Solar Power and the Eclipse
Dan Diehl
Solar power systems across America survived the solar eclipse last week. There were some concerns as to what would happen during the eclipse when millions of solar panels would be shaded by the moon. Although some solar production was lost, no grid instabilities were reported and solar systems across the country safely ramped down and then back up again after the eclipse passed and started to produce solar electricity again. Its really no different than a giant cloud passing over the country in terms of solar energy production and the solar panels don't know the difference.
